Maharashtra DCM Devendra Fadnavis lays Foundation Stone for Trishul War Museum in Leh
Famously known as the *Bullet Catcher* , Brigadier Sunil Sheoran was a special guest at the event/ DCM Devendra Fadnavis Ji met him.
Brig. Sunil Sheoran, who led the NSG operation during of the 26/11 attack on Mumbai, was also present at the event. During his speech on this occasion, Devendra Fadnavis specifically mentioned Colonel Sunil Sheoran’s outstanding performance.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis laid the foundation stone for the Trishul War Museum at Karu in Leh today. This museum is being constructed spending about 3 crore rupees, and has been funded by the Government of Maharashtra.
“If more funds are required for this museum, they will be provided too”, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis asserted that it is our fortune that Maharashtra has joined this initiative.
Lt Gen Rashim Bali (SM, VSM, GOC 14 Corps), Maj Gen PK Mishra (GOC 3 Inf Div) and MLC Shrikant Bharatiya were present on this occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that Trishul is a symbol of origin, status and rhythm. Trishul is a symbol of bravery. Trishul Division has also shown similar bravery. You demonstrate excellence in challenging environments where even simple breathing is a a struggle. We salute your bravery. The role of the Army is very important in enhancing the honour of the country and the contribution of the Trishul Division in it is important.
Today, India is progressing in all fields. After the success of the Chandrayaan mission, India has now taken up the mission to the Sun. India has become the fifth-largest economy in the world today. Facilities such as roads and bridges are being built in large quantities for the army in remote areas. Devendra Fadnavis also said that this museum will also give a big boost to tourism in the border areas and will make tourists from Maharashtra proud when they come here.
The concept of Trishul War Museum was thought almost an year ago. When Adv. Meenal Bhonsle and Sarika Malhotra, two women from Maharashtra, visited this area, and this concept came to light… They brought the matter to MLC Shrikant Bharatiya’s attention, and he subsequently had a discussion with Devendra Fadnavis about it.
After that, the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde took a decision to provide financial support for this. Lieut. General Rashim Bali, Major General P. K. Mishra thanks the Government of Maharashtra for funding this museum, while speaking on this occasion.
A cultural program involving the students of the military school as well as the local citizens was also organized on the occasion.
The museum is being built adjacent to Trishul War Memorial, and it is going to be in the shape of a Trishul. It will have 3 exhibition halls where the memory of martyrs from the operations of 1962, 1965, 1971, and more recent events will be preserved.
This Trishul Division consists of courageous soldiers dedicated to safeguarding India’s integrity in the challenging region bordering Pakistan on one side and China on the other. Inside this museum, you’ll discover an array of exhibits, encompassing the genesis of the Trishul Division, its remarkable achievements in diverse campaigns, the weapons used in battles, ammunition, vehicles, communication systems, as well as the heartfelt correspondence exchanged between soldiers and their families, and more. This division was established during the 1962 war. To date, the division has received a total of 150 gallantry awards.
